Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
Protecting public funds and upholding financial integrity by stopping corruption, fraud and money laundering.
About the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) exists to prevent people from stealing public money, committing financial fraud, and using illegal methods to obtain or hide money. Its mission is to safeguard public resources and maintain trust in the financial system by confronting economic crime wherever it occurs.
The EFCC investigates allegations of corruption, including the theft or misuse of government funds, and traces money suspected of coming from criminal activity. It also investigates cyber-enabled financial crimes such as online scams and advance-fee fraud, arrests and questions suspects, gathers evidence, and takes cases to court, seeking the recovery or forfeiture of proceeds of crime where legally justified.
